Patriotic Film Shot Exclusively in WV Premieres August 19

“Doughboy,” a family-friendly film that pays tribute to America’s men and women in service, opens Friday, Aug. 19, at Marquee Cinemas in Wheeling (Triadelphia), Charleston, Huntington, and Beckley.  The film shot exclusively on location in Wheeling earlier this year and is directed by J.W. Myers and written by Ty DeMartino. It explores the issues of freedom and patriotism and how they are perceived by today’s young people. [..]

HUNTINGTON — Pop music star Cee Lo Green will be LIVE in Huntington on Thursday, Sept. 8.
Green, who is promoting his current album “The Lady Killer,” will perform at 7 p.m. at Harris Riverfront Park. The show is being sponsored by the Marshall University Student Activities Programming Board and will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Marshall Artists Series.

Heart of Appalachia Roller Derby, LLC, Charleston, West Virginia’s newest women’s flat-track roller derby team, has organized the area’s first roller derby event. “Clash in the Coalfields,” will take place at 7:00pm on August 27th at the Madison Civic Center in Madison, West Virginia, with proceeds benefiting several local charities and community organizations. Proceeds from the admission price, concessions, and drawings at intermission will benefit several local organizations, including the medical fund for Jake Weaver, a Boone County boy diagnosed with leukemia.
